We chose to work exclusively with the hardest gemstones (from 7.5/10). This allows us to guarantee a high level of scratch resistance for Elisa Lee jewelry.

We generally choose to work with natural diamonds. For the larger diamonds, we are increasingly using the more budget-friendly synthetic diamond, the so-called “lab diamond,” because it is created in a laboratory. Read about the pros and cons of lab diamonds here.

We also work with salt & pepper diamonds upon request. These are diamonds with inclusions, allowing you to find a larger diamond for the same price (carat). Our colored diamonds are originally natural white diamonds. They always have a beautiful US quality and are colored using radiation.

You will receive an Elisa Lee certificate with every piece of jewelry featuring gemstones or diamonds. For diamonds 4 mm and larger, we also include an additional passport. If desired, we can also source specific gemstones with certificates. 

Diamond is the hardest stone there is. It scores 10/10 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
Sapphire and ruby are the 2nd hardest in line with a hardness of 9.
Next are tourmaline, aquamarine, and morganite. Glass scores about 5.5 on the Mohs scale.
